when should i arrive? 建议什么时候抵达？
we recommend arriving in shanghai by wednesday march 24th, 2027, or thursday march 25th at the latest. if you are travelling from north america or europe, give yourself an extra day or two if your schedule allows. shanghai is worth exploring, and your (aging) body will thank you for the jet-lag buffer!
我们建议大家在 2027年3月24日（星期三）抵达上海，最晚不要晚于3月25日（星期四）。 如果你从北美或欧洲出发，时间允许的话，建议再提前一两天抵达。上海非常值得多留一点时间好好探索，而且给自己留点时间倒时差，你（逐渐老去的）身体也一定会感谢你！
what does the week look like?
for our friends: the wedding may be the main event, but it doesn’t have to be the whole trip. in the days leading up to the wedding, our friends are invited to join us for bachelor & bachelorette festivities before we officially kick off the wedding weekend. after the wedding, we will be planning a post-wedding bachelor & bachelorette trip to celebrate and let loose of the wedding formalities. join us for as much or as little as you would like. more details, dates, and rsvp information will be shared separately.

flying into shanghai | 飞往上海
shanghai has two major airports: shanghai pudong international airport (PVG) and shanghai hongqiao international airport (SHA).
most international flights arrive at PVG, while SHA primarily serves domestic and regional routes within asia. when booking your flight, you can choose the flight route + price that makes the most sense. PVG is further away from the city centre (~1-2 hour depending on traffic), while SHA is located inside the city. transportation is affordable and easy for both airports with didi, taxicabs, or trains.
if you are travelling from vancouver, there are direct flight options with air canada and china eastern. the most affordable options include layovers in seoul, hong kong, or beijing.
上海有两座主要机场：上海浦东国际机场（PVG） 和 上海虹桥国际机场（SHA）。
大多数国际航班会抵达 浦东国际机场（PVG），而虹桥国际机场（SHA）主要运营中国国内及亚洲地区航线。预订机票时，可以根据自己的行程和预算，选择最合适的航线及价格。

如果从温哥华出发，目前可以选择 加拿大航空（Air Canada） 或 中国东方航空（China Eastern） 的直飞航班。价格相对实惠的航班通常需要转机，常见的转机城市包括首尔、香港或北京。

the current 30 days visa-free travel policy for canadians is ONLY confirmed through december 31, 2026. since the extension has not been officially announced, please do not assume that canadians will be visa-exempt for the wedding in 2027.
our recommendation: familiarize yourself with the visa process now. if the visa-free policy has not been extended by november/december 2026, we recommend starting your chinese tourist visa application rather than waiting until the last minute. the official visa application centre recommends applying approximately three months before travel.
